When working with Bishopsgate Institute I tried to establish a style of photography that felt like the viewer was participating, that felt like they were already beginning to experience the class.
With quite small classrooms this was already on the way to being achieved (!), with Point of View shots up-close-and-personal with the tutor and the learning materials, and then quite a shallow depth of field so the learning is, literally, focussed.  I tried to ensure the learning felt reasonably informal – this is learning for pleasure after all – and that it was catching a particular moment.
This is a style I try to achieve in a lot of my work, particularly when creating a record of the rehearsal process in both non-professional and professional theatre. You can see more of these HERE on my other site, but here's a selection of classroom photos and rehearsals.
